Tuesday 4 November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday in Victoria. Wednesday 5 November the Kyneton Cup Public Holiday for areas with the postcode 3444.

There will be some changes to our services and facility hours on these days.

Baynton, Burke and Wills Track - Road Reconstruction

A section of Burke and Wills Track will be widened and upgraded between Annek Lane and Sidonia Road in Baynton.

Darraweit Guim, Simons Hill Road repairs and drainage improvements

Road works to repair a damaged section and to improve drainage.

Gisborne, Aitken Street - footpath works

Works are planned on Aitken Street, in front of Sankey Reserve.

Gisborne, Kilmore Road - footpath works

Works are planned for 2 sections from Mountain View Way to Calder Freeway.

Gisborne, Prince Street - Pedestrian safety improvement

Council is proposing a raised pedestrian crossing (wombat crossing) on Prince Street in Gisborne, between Robertson and Hamilton streets (upgrading an existing crossing point).

Gisborne, The Boulevard - footpath works

Works are planned on The Boulevard, from Kilmore Road to Hilltop Way.

Kyneton, Baynton Street - footpath works

Works are planned along 3 sections of Baynton Street, from Powlett Street to Ebden Street.

Works are planned along 2 sections of Ebden Street, from Jennings Street to Hutton Street.

Kyneton, Ebden Street - footpath works

Works are planned from from Jennings Street to Yaldwyn Street West.

Kyneton, Edgecombe Street - footpath works

Works are planned along 3 sections of Edgecombe Street, from Epping Street to Dettmanns Lane.

Kyneton, Jennings Street - Pedestrian safety improvements

Pedestrian safety will be improved by installing a wombat crossing and completing other works at the intersection of Jennings Street and Mollison Street in Kyneton.

Kyneton, New Street - Pedestrian safety improvements

Pedestrian safety will be improved – particularly for nearby school students – by installing a wombat crossing and completing other works at the intersection of New Street and High Street in Kyneton.

Lancefield, High Street - footpath works

Works are planned from The Crescent to 24 High Street.

Lancefield, Park Street - footpath works

Works are planned from High Street to the car park at Lancefield Primary School.

Malmsbury, Kyneton Metcalfe Road - Windmill Bridge

This project will replace the bridge.

Malmsbury, Malmsbury Botanical Gardens - Drainage

This project is to enhance the drainage system to safeguard from potential damage from stormwater.

New Gisborne, Hurst Drive - footpath works

Works are planned for 2 sections from Station Road to Crossmount Drive.

New Gisborne, Meek Street - footpath works

Works are planned from Sauer Road to Barry Road (adjacent to property number 8).

Riddells Creek, Filmer Place - footpath works

Works are planned from Kilmore Road to Larter Court (adjacent to property number 1 and 2).

Riddells Creek, Yellowgum Boulevard - footpath works

Works are planned from Banksia Court to Bluebush Court (adjacent to number 50).

Riddells Creek, off Sutherlands Road - footpath works

Works are planned near the car park at Riddells Creek Leisure Centre.

Romsey, Greenfields Boulevard - footpath works

Works are planned from Metcalfe Drive to Casuarina Street (adjacent to number 40).

Romsey, Wrixon Street - Five Mile Creek crossing

Council has removed a non-compliant timber structure which acted as a crossing over Five Mile Creek at Wrixon Street in Romsey.

Trentham East, Chanters Lane - Road Reconstruction

Chanters Lane, Trentham East will be upgraded from the Ashbourne Road intersection to Pearsons Road intersection.

Woodend, High Street - footpath works

Works are planned from 67 to 71 High Street.

These projects are currently being built, and works are underway at the listed locations.

Darraweit Guim, Darraweit Valley Road - bridge design/investigation

Resurfacing of the bridge is now complete. Other maintenance works, and a review of the load limits on the bridge are planned within the coming months.

Edgecombe, Hodges Bridge, Boundary Road - New Bridge Load Limit

The project includes consultation, design and investigation for future works on the historical bridge.

Footpath renewals

A range of footpath renewal works are planned across the shire.

Gisborne - Willow Estate Wetland – temporary fencing and access update

Fencing around the wetland areas at Willow Estate, Gisborne, will remain in place for several more months to protect newly planted vegetation while it establishes.

Gisborne, Fisher & Aitken streets - Pedestrian safety improvement

The Victorian Government is investing $23 million as part of the Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure Program (SSIP), to improve safety at popular activity areas for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

Gisborne, Swinburne Avenue - road works and drainage upgrades

Road works and drainage upgrades will be completed from 13 August until early October.

Kyneton - Campaspe River Walk footbridges

Council is proposing works to a number of redundant footbridges along Campaspe River Walk in Kyneton, which are beyond maintenance and have been closed since the October 2022 flood event.

Kyneton - Pipers Creek Road and Batters Lane Intersection Upgrade

Safety upgrade works at the intersection of Pipers Creek Road and Batters Lane have been completed and street lighting works will begin at a later date.

Lauriston, Lauriston Road - Footbridge Safety Works

To identify bridge safety and fencing works on historical bridge.

New Gisborne, Barringo Road - drainage works

Drainage improvement works are planned on Barringo Road and a section of the walking track within the sports precinct.

New Gisborne, Hamilton and Barringo roads - intersection upgrade

Works to upgrade the intersection of Barringo and Hamilton roads in New Gisborne, improving access and safety around the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct are almost complete.

Romsey, Stawell Street – road reconstruction

A section of Stawell Street is being upgraded between Pohlman Street and Main Street.

Various roads - Bitumen Resurfacing Program

The bitumen resurfacing program is a renewal program for Council-managed sealed roads, which aims to improve the existing road surface.

Woodend - Glenns Court - Drainage Works

Drainage works are proposed to minimise and control surface runoff within the road reserve at the end of Glenns Court, Woodend.
