Gisborne, Swinburne Avenue - road works and drainage upgrades

As part of Council’s 2025 Capital Works Program, the first section of Swinburne Avenue, Gisborne has been completed.

The project will completely rebuild the road and upgrade drainage on the east side of Swinburne Avenue. At the same time, the west side is being widened as part of a subdivision, ensuring the entire road is upgraded consistently.

What to expect

  • Full road closure between Ross Watt Road and Cherry Lane
  • Access will be maintained for local residents and businesses
  • Detours in place via Ross Watt Road and surrounding streets
  • Allow extra travel time; minor delays may occur

The final works will be completed with Stage 4 of Rosalie Estate, commencing sometime in 2026.
