Kyneton, Beauchamp Street and Mollison Street - Wombat Crossing

Road safety improvements are proposed at the Beauchamp/Mollison Street intersection in Kyneton.

To make the area safer for everyone, Council will be installing a wombat crossing (raised pedestrian crossing) on the eastern leg of Beauchamp Street and kerb outstands on Mollison Street.

The project will also include associated works of footpath and drainage improvements in the immediate vicinity of the crossing. In addition, existing asphalt footpath from Kyneton Showground's entrance in Mollison Street to Beauchamp Street will also be replace with 1.5m wide concrete footpath as part of the works

These improvements will make it safer for people crossing the road, improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians, and lower the chances of crashes.

The works are scheduled to take place from 26 November to 17 December, weather permitting (updated as at 21 November 2025, with dates being moved back slightly due to New Street works).

Road closures and detours will be in place on Beauchamp Street and the surrounding streets to complete these works safely and efficiently. Drivers should plan for minor delays due to the detours.

The project is funded by the Australian Government’s 2024/2025 Black Spot Program.
