Hard rubbish and tip vouchers

There is no hard rubbish collection in the Macedon Ranges. Council has investigated initiating such a service and has determined that due to the cost to residents and large geographic distances involved in the shire, this service is currently not viable.

We encourage our residents to use resource recovery facilities and op shops to recycle their hard waste.

Tip vouchers for hard waste disposal are not available to residents.

Each financial year every rated property (residential or commercial) will receive two 6 x 4 x 1m trailer vouchers of accepted green waste to be dropped off at one of our Resource Recovery Facilities for free.

While some local councils provide hard waste vouchers, they are often charged to all residents through their rates, and residents pay for the vouchers whether they use them or not. Council’s resource recovery facilities run on a user-pays system, meaning that residents who don't attend the facilities are not subsidising those that do. This way, we are able to keep our fees low (among the lowest in Victoria).

Community groups and charity stores who receive community vouchers for waste disposal can access their vouchers through the LoopedIn Councils app.

How to access community vouchers

1. Download the app
2. Select Macedon Ranges Shire Council
3. Go to the vouchers section in the menu
4. Switch to community mode in the top right corner
5. Select your community group
6. Use the access code provided to you by Council

If you do not have access to a smart device and the app. You can access your vouchers access your vouchers online and follow steps 4-6.
