Busking
We love seeing our community come alive with music, art, and performance.
To help ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for everyone—under Council’s Community Local Law 2023, you must apply for a permit before performing in on Council-owned land.

To apply, complete the:
Applicants must be 18 years or older, or a parent/guardian must apply on behalf of a minor.

Key requirements
Public Safety
- Busking must not obstruct pedestrian or vehicle access
- The area must be kept clean and safe
Insurance
- $10 million Public Liability Insurance is required
- Council’s interest must be noted on the policy
Permit Conditions
- Buskers must carry their permit at all times and present it upon request
- Performances must not cause a nuisance or disturbance
- Voluntary donations are allowed via a container (no aggressive or offensive solicitation)
Enforcement
- Council officers or police may request a busker to stop or relocate if the performance is unsafe or disruptive
Minors
- Buskers under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian apply for the permit and supervise performances
Privately Owned Locations (No Council Permit Required)
Some public spaces are privately managed and do not require a Council-issued busking permit.
