Skip Bins (Council Land)

Placing a skip bin on Council land, such as roads, nature strips, or footpaths, requires a permit to ensure safety and prevent obstructions.

A permit must be obtained before placing the skip bin on Council land.

Things you need to know/prepare before you apply

To avoid delays, ensure you have all required information and documentation ready before lodging your application.

Applications submitted without the required documentation or payment will be deemed incomplete and will not be assessed. A new application will be required to be submitted.

You will be required to provide:

  • Size of the skip bin
  • Proposed start and end dates
    (Note: The approved end date is subject to the discretion of the Authorised Officer and may differ from the date requested)
  • Public Liability Insurance (minimum $10 million cover, valid for the duration of the permit)
  • Aerial map clearly showing the proposed location.

Skip bins greater than 4m3 require an Asset Protection Permit.

Permit Fee

  • $106 per skip bin (up to 12 months)
