Look Over the Farm Gate – Community Grants Program

Strong, connected communities are key to building resilience during tough times — especially for farmers and farming families under stress.

The Look Over the Farm Gate - community grants program offers up to $5,000 to run events or initiatives that support mental wellbeing and bring people together.

Anyone with a clear link to a farming community can apply — including (but not limited to) farmer groups, sporting clubs, volunteer organisations, service providers, incorporated bodies, private businesses, local councils and health providers.

Feeding livestock Support

Livestock feed budgeting resources to support decision-making are available

Livestock Containment Areas can be a useful tool to allow pastures to re-establish and recover. Visit AgVic's Stock containment areas (SCA) for emergencies page to find out more.

Council's Healthy Landscapes page also has a range of resources online.

Financial Programs

The Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) offers free and independent financial information, supports, and referral services to primary producers and small, related rural businesses. RFCS offices are located across Victoria and counsellors can visit a business or residence to provide advice and support.

State Government Support: All Victorian primary production businesses can access On-Farm Drought Infrastructure Grants of up to $5,000 (ex. GST). Visit Rural Finance for eligibility criteria and start your online application.

The Farm Household Allowance (FHA) is a Commonwealth program available for eligible farm households to support financial hardship. Access depends on individual circumstances.

The Australian Government, through the Regional Investment Corporation, provides low-interest loans to eligible farmers. The Drought loan of up to $2 million assists farmers to prepare, manage and recover from drought.
