Access and Inclusion
Council is committed to creating an inclusive community where people of all ages and abilities can participate fully in local life. Our Disability Action Plan, now integrated into Shaping the Ranges 2025–2035, outlines the steps we will take to improve access, remove barriers and support the rights and independence of people with disability.
The Plan was developed in consultation with the community, local agencies and staff, ensuring it reflects local needs and lived experience. It focuses on building equitable access to Council services, facilities, information and employment, as well as strengthening community attitudes, increasing visibility and supporting meaningful participation. These commitments sit across the organisation and align with the broader goals of Shaping the Ranges, which also incorporates the Community Vision, Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Actions to progress disability access and inclusion are delivered through the annual action plans for Shaping the Ranges, which set out the initiatives Council will undertake each year.
