Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct
The Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct is a three-stage $44.5 million project incorporating expansive indoor and outdoor recreation.
It is spread across two interconnected sites in New Gisborne, located at the intersection of Barringo and Hamilton roads.
Stage One of the precinct was officially opened on Friday 28 June 2024 and includes:
- a three-court sports stadium
- spectator seating
- a kiosk and office space
- car parking/drop-off area
- a natural grass AFL/cricket oval
- change rooms
- a pavilion featuring a multi-function space
- a fitness loop and outdoor fitness equipment
- half-court basketball
- a playground
- barbecue areas
- wetlands/a detention basin.

The following programs are operating at the stadium.
Basketball
Macedon Ranges Basketball Association
The MRBA is a volunteer-run association, offering a wide range of basketball programs to both children and adults alike.
Programs include:
- Aussie Hoops
- U10 competition and training
- Local junior domestic competition (U12 through to U18)
- Junior tournament and representative teams
- All-abilities basketball
- Open Mens
- CBL

Futsal
Macedon Ranges Futsal are running two seasonal competitions based at the sports precinct.

Volleyball
Join our vibrant volleyball community where players of all ages and skill levels come together to enjoy the game.
Training sessions
Where: Riddells Creek Leisure Centre
- Beginners: Sundays, 3pm to 4:30pm
- Intermediate: Sundays, 4:30pm to 6pm
- Advanced (Invite Only): Sundays, 5:30pm to 7pm
Competition: A and B-Grade Matches
- Mondays from 7pm at the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct

Active Kids Sports
Learn ball skills, play games and develop the correct techniques to enjoy sports.
When
Term 3, 2025 onwards - Monday mornings in the stadium at the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct.
- 10am-10.45am: 3-5 year olds
This program is also on at Buffalo Stadium in Woodend on Wednesdays.
Cost
Classes are capped at 18 participants, so we recommend booking online via our Members portal. Please speak with staff about online access to avoid duplicating accounts.
Eftpos is also available to buy a casual pass on the day - however we recommend booking in advance to secure your child’s place in the class.
$13.10 per week or 10 visit pass is $118.30.

Opening hours
The stadium is open during school terms when programs and activities are running.
During school holidays, the stadium is often open for casual use, including shooting hoops and other fun activities.
Holiday opening hours vary and will be published on this page as they become available.
Sports pavilion hire
The sports pavilion will be available for hire as per our normal hire agreements with clubs upon completion of Stage 2 works, which are currently being finalised for construction.
