Overview

Whether you’re a start-up or established, there are a range of agencies, resources, networks and groups that provide assistance, research, statistics and tools to develop and market your business.

Council works with a number of these tourism industry bodies. Some are formal associations with a membership base that you can join, while others are informal networks and industry groups that meet with on a regular basis.

Local and regional

Daylesford and Macedon Ranges Regional Tourism Board (DMRT)

The Daylesford & Macedon Ranges Regional Tourism Board is the peak industry body for tourism in the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region. It is an independent body that focusses on the development and growth of the tourism industry, strategic tourism investment and advocacy, and.works cooperatively with Council via a partnership agreement.

DMRT’s primary role is to build destination awareness through promotional and marketing activities, and provide guidance and advice to the tourism industry to foster a united, engaged and successful industry.  By working with all key stakeholders it aims to develop and guide a consistent approach to tourism development and marketing across the region.

Tourism Macedon Ranges Inc. (TMR)

Tourism Macedon Ranges is an incorporated association that act as the tourism advocacy and reference group in the shire. The Committee consists of up to 12 members who volunteer their time for the benefit of the industry.

TMR aims to act as a collaborative industry reference group, providing advice on tourism initiatives and directions to ensure the industry capitalises on opportunities and is actively addressing the challenges.

TMR works cooperatively with Council to provide industry insights and advice to assist with with the development and delivery of the Macedon Ranges Visitor Economy Strategy 2019-2029 and its annual Action Plans.

Macedon Ranges Accommodation Association (MRAA)

The Macedon Ranges Accommodation Association endeavours to provide support and encourage education and networking opportunities for accommodation businesses across the shire.

Macedon Ranges Vignerons Association (MRVA)

The Macedon Ranges Vignerons Association represents vignerons from across the Macedon Ranges wine region. Providing support to local vignerons, their priorities are regional marketing and promotions, industry development, innovation, collaboration and forming strategic partnerships.

Association members are local business stakeholders with an interest in supporting the growth of existing and new businesses, business to business relationships and partnerships in local destination marketing.

As the Victorian Government’s lead tourism agency, Visit Victoria works to develop and realise the local and global market potential for Victoria’s tourism industry.

Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC)

Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) is Victoria’s peak body for organisation for tourism and events, working for a sustainable and successful visitor economy.

Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia is the Australian Government agency responsible for attracting international visitors to Australia, both for leisure and business. Its purpose is to increase the economic benefits of tourism to Australia.

Australian Regional Tourism Network

The ARTN is the peak national body that represents these regional tourism practitioners, and supports its members by providing opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and advocacy to promote a successful and sustainable industry.

Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP)

The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) is a business development program that is based on Quality Assurance principles. This is achieved by the development of professional management systems that will lead to reliability, consistency and predictability in the operation of the business which in turn results in improved customer service and satisfaction.

Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW)

The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is a joint initiative of Tourism Australia and all Australian State and Territory Tourism Organisations, which provide a central content and distribution platform for the Australian tourism industry. Tourism businesses can sign up for an ATDW listing and their business will then appear on many travel sites around Australia including Visit Victoria’s official consumer site
