Romsey Kindergarten

Romsey Kindergarten is a two-room unit with learning areas that incorporate activities that engage children’s interests and exploration.

Our kinder has been part of Romsey community for 30 years. We have a highly motivated and experienced team to ensure children have the best start.

Our programs are reflective of the uniqueness of all children and their social and emotional needs are programmed for. We work collaboratively with the local primary schools to support children’s smooth transition to school.

Romsey Kindergarten Philosophy

At Romsey Kindergarten we believe in fostering a sense of community within the broader rural context that has shaped our identity for over 30 years. Our philosophy is engrained in various guiding principles, including the United Nations Rights of the Child, Australian Early Childhood Code of Ethics, National Early Years Learning and Development Framework, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, Child Safe Standards, and Macedon Ranges Shire Council Policies.

Children

In our commitment to recognising the uniqueness of each child, we strive to provide an inclusive environment that caters to diverse abilities, interests, needs, and learning styles. We believe that children learn best through their own understanding, natural curiosity, and wonder of the world. We offer a safe, enriching, and challenging space, where a creative, play-based emergent curriculum encourages exploration, both indoors and outdoors.

Families and Community

As integral members of our community, we strive to create a sense of belonging and unity among families, children, and educators. Valuing families as essential partners in the learning journey, we adopt a holistic teaching approach that considers the unique needs of each child. Our commitment to inclusivity extends to recognising and celebrating the individuality of all children and families. We have a deep awareness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and cultural diversity. This awareness is embedded in our kindergarten environment, emphasising our acknowledgment and respect of the Wurundjeri traditional custodians of the land on which our kindergarten is built.

Environment

We encourage children to work towards creating a sustainable community and to respect their natural and constructed environment. We connect children with the broader community, fostering an understanding of interconnectedness and the world around them. Our learning environment prioritises well-being and safety, aiming to instil confidence and engagement in the learning process.

Educators

Educators at Romsey Kindergarten aim to inspire traits such as consistency, diligence, warmth, and respect, forming a vital foundation for a positive kindergarten experience. Our educators operate within a collaborative team environment, fostering supportive relationships among themselves, children, families, and the broader community. Each educator brings with them a unique personal philosophy, contributing to the richness and diversity of our teaching approach.

We prioritise building trusting and caring relationships, where the rights of children are paramount, aligning with international conventions and ethical standards.
