National Bird Week - Join the Aussie Bird Count

The Aussie Bird Count is back from 19-25 October. This national citizen science project invites everyone to spend just 20 minutes outdoors counting the birds around them. It’s fun, easy and makes a real difference for conservation.

In 2025, more than 63,000 people took part, recording over 5 million birds across Australia. The Magpie, Rainbow Lorikeet, the native Noisy Minor and Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo topped the list, but it’s not just the familiar birds that matter. Woodland birds like the Brown Treecreeper are a key indicator species for the Macedon Ranges, showing us how healthy our ecosystems are.
