Meals and food services

Overview

Council is a funded supplier of Meals at Centre with the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, which includes community meals and a new meal voucher program, launching in 2021. Council also provides meal preparation support in the home. These services are continuing through the COVID-19 emergency, but with some modifications in to keep everyone safe.

Delivered meals

As of 1 January 2021, Macedon Ranges Shire Council is no longer a Commonwealth Home Support Programme provider of delivered meals (meals on wheels). If you would like information about alternative options available, please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or for more information (03) 5422 0333

New meals voucher program

 A new reduced cost meal voucher service is available to people aged 65 years and older in the shire through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.

Eligible residents can now enjoy a range of reduced cost meals from local businesses in a more flexible and convenient way. Vouchers will be supplied to approved clients to contribute to the cost of meals from local food businesses and suppliers.

Cooking at home

Our community connection workers can help you to prepare meals at home by assisting with basic food preparation, such as peeling and chopping vegetables.

Food bank

Kyneton Caring Community and Romsey Neighbourhood House, are sharing food via a food bank.

This service is open to all ages for those in need.
