Gisborne Library meeting space upgrade

The Gisborne Library is set to receive a major upgrade to its meeting space, following a successful grant application by Council.

Gisborne Library is one of 19 libraries across the state that will benefit from the Victorian Government’s 2024-25 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program (LLIP), providing more than $4 million to support new or upgraded library infrastructure projects.

The library, operated by Goldfields Libraries on Council’s behalf, will see a $457,000 contribution towards a modern, accessible, multi-functional meeting space. The Gisborne Genealogical Group currently operate out of this space, and will see improved accessibility, upgraded technology, and greater integration with the rest of the library.

This investment in the Gisborne Library will support the growing demands of the Gisborne community, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all, while ensuring that it is up to the standards of modern-day demands.

Tender issue designs and specifications are being prepared, with the aim to go to tender before the end of the year. Construction is then expected to start in 2026 and be completed by the end of the financial year (June 2026).
