Council manages around 1,700 km of local roads across the Macedon Ranges. About 1,600 km of these roads are maintained by Council under the Road Management Plan.
There are also some roads across the shire that Council does not currently maintain and that are not listed on the Public Road Register.
From time to time, Council receives requests to add these roads to the Register or to take responsibility for their ongoing maintenance.
This procedure explains the criteria and process used to assess these requests.
