Walk Against Family Violence 2025

Each year Macedon Ranges Shire Council supports Respect Victoria and Safe + Equal by partnering with local groups to deliver activities for the UN 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign. The campaign runs between 25 November and 10 December.

This year, Council will be holding a Walk Against Family Violence in collaboration with the Zonta Club of Kyneton, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health and Women’s Health Loddon Mallee to reflect on the impacts of gendered violence in our region.

In line with Respect Victoria’s latest campaign, “What Kind of Man Do You Want to Be?”, we will hear from Dr Innocent Mwatsiya, Research Fellow with the Reducing Gender-based Violence Research Group at La Trobe University. Other speakers include the Zonta Club of Kyneton and a young participant from this year’s Kid X program at Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health. 

Meeting at 1.15pm for 1.30pm start, the walk starts at Kyneton Community House on Mollison Street and will progress to the Kyneton Mechanics Institute via Welsh Street and High Street.

A Welcome to Country at 1.50pm will start proceedings outside Kyneton Mechanics Institute, along with a sausage sizzle and activities on the lawn in front of Kyneton Library.

Meet at the front of Kyneton Community House. The walk will proceed down Welsh St and High Street to finish at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute.
