Ferrier Road, New Gisborne

The Ferrier Road footpath works involves the construction of a 2.5m wide, approximately 115m in length concrete path, along the north side of Ferrier Road. This missing link will connect the existing path on the east side front of the New Gisborne Primary School with the footpath at the Crossmount Drive Intersection. This connection is identified as a high priority link on the Council’s Shire Wide Footpath Plan and has been supported throughout community feedback.

In addition to the footpath construction, the project scope includes:

  • installation of three pram crossings to enhance connectivity
  • installation of drainage pits to improve stormwater capture and
  • construction of approximately 90m of kerb and channel

The project is funded under the Footpath and Local Traffic Safety Program (FLTSP), through equal shared cost arrangement between Council and the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).

The project is currently in design stage and construction is expected to commence early 2026.
