Kyneton Mechanics Institute (KMI) is located next to the Kyneton Bowling Club. 

It features heritage décor, beautifully restored meeting rooms of various sizes and the main hall, which seats approximately 200.

A community space suited to exhibitions, theatre, business and private functions.

All fees include 10% GST. Fees and charges are updated 1st July each year, in line with Council's budget.

Venue Subsidy Scheme

A venue subsidy scheme is available for community or NFP groups, and local artists or arts organisations. To enquire about eligibility, or to request an application form, email creativevenues@mrsc.vic.gov.au

Council's public liability

All hirers are required to hold their own public liability insurance. NFP groups and individuals without cover are eligible to be covered under Council's public liability for an additional fee of $20.

Accessibility

Mobility access

Entry to the front of the venue is accessible for wheelchair users, and patrons with prams or mobility aids.

Wheelchair accessible seating is available for all Council-managed events in this venue.

There are two accessible parking spots in nearby Baynton Street. The distance between these parking spots and the front entrance of the Kyneton Mechanics Institute is approximately 60 metres using paved footpaths. 

Please note that access to the Kyneton Mechanics Institute stage is via stairs only. 

Deaf or hard of hearing access

Kyneton Mechanics Institute is not currently fitted with a hearing loop or hearing assistance system and is not currently able to support closed caption displays for live performance.

Blind or vision impaired access

Front row seats are available for patrons who are blind or have low vision at all Council-managed events in this venue. 

Bathroom access

There are two gender neutral accessible bathrooms in this venue, including one bathroom which is equipped with a roll-in shower. 

Parking

Parking 

There is no onsite parking available at this venue, however on-street parking is available in Baynton Street and other nearby streets, as sign posted.

There are two accessible parking spots located in Baynton Street, and 2 electric vehicle charging stations. 

The Kyneton Mechanics Institute is also a short walk from the public carpark at the rear of Kyneton Town Hall.
