Romsey, Wrixon Street - Five Mile Creek crossing

Council has assessed a small timber structure over Five Mile Creek between Wrixon Street and Robb Drive in Romsey, finding that it was structurally non-compliant and unsafe.

This timber structure was not a Council asset, however it was located on Council-managed land. Therefore, with Council's responsibility to the safety of users, Council officers organised the prompt removal of the bridge on 1 March 2023.

Council is committed to having a pedestrian bridge in this approximate location as endorsed in the Romsey Five Mile Creek Master Plan, noting construction of a bridge is subject to funding in future capital works budgets.

Alternative, safe crossing points along the creek are located a short distance away, either near Pohlman Street to the east or near Drovers Retreat/Sullivan Court to the west.
