New Gisborne, Monaghan and Saunders Road – drainage works

Drainage upgrades are proposed at the intersection of Monaghan Road and Saunders Road in New Gisborne to address existing issues and increase the drainage capacity.

The works will include:  

  • Installing an additional culvert next to the existing box culvert
  • Reshaping of the roadside table/open drain on both sides of Monaghan Road culvert to help water drain more effectively

These works are funded by Council’s 2024–25 unplanned drainage program.

The project is scheduled to start early June 2025 and be completed by the end of June 2025, weather permitting.

The intersection of Monaghan Road and Saunders Road will be temporarily closed during the works. Traffic management, signage and detours will be in place during the works to help the road users plan their journey. Minor delays are expected during the works. Please allow extra time if travelling in the area.
