Shadowland

Creative Kids school holidays program presents Shadowland—a workshop in contemporary shadow theatre for children. 

Children design, create and play with their own shadow creature inside the different shadow worlds of 10 domed tents set up inside Kyneton Town Hall.

Shadowland offers children the opportunity to explore their own agency in designing their own shadow character and to stay as long as they like inside each unique shadow world. They will learn how to use the light to make their character bigger and interact in the world around them. In a world where things change rapidly and we can lose our own sense of control, Shadowland brings a safe place to play, to create and to construct a different reality for a while.

Facilitated by artist and designer Lynne Kent, each workshop will run for 1.5 hours.

About the artist

Lynne is a puppeteer/performer who has toured, trained and worked with various companies including The Victorian Opera, Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Erth Physical Theatre, The Melbourne Women's Circus, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image and the Queensland Theatre Company.
