Reconstruction works on a key section of Hamilton Road which connects New Gisborne to Riddells Creek, have now been completed making a safer, smoother journey for all.

The project which included 1.9km of pavement reconstruction and widening, roadside drainage improvements, and road safety improvements along Hamilton Rd, was completed in two stages over a few months, with road closures and detours in place for the second stage.

Council’s CEO, Bernie O’Sullivan thanked residents and the community for their understanding and patience during these important road safety improvement works.

“This is a key road in our shire used by many to travel between townships and we’d like to thank the Australian Government and Rob Mitchell, local federal Member for McEwen for their support to upgrade it and help make it safer.”

“Council is committed to ensuring roads in the shire are safe for all road users and we will continue to work closely with the Australian and Victorian governments, and other key stakeholders to ensure this is the case.”

This $1,374,725 road infrastructure improvement project was jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Program ($1,101,098) and Council’s 2023/24 Capital Works Program ($273,627).
