Council is hosting a range of fun activities and events for children and young people in the shire throughout the 2023/24 summer school holidays.

  • Aquatics activities – Gisborne Aquatic Centre and Kyneton Toyota Sports & Aquatic Centre will run intensive swimming programs during the holidays. To enrol in lessons, call 5421 1452 (Gisborne) or 5421 1477 (Kyneton).
  • The pool inflatable – featuring obstacles, climbing hills and slides – will also run on various days at both aquatic centres throughout the holidays. Use of the inflatable is included in pool entry fees. Follow the centres’ respective Facebook pages for updates.
  • Dance holiday program – 22-24 January 2024, 9am-12pm, Buffalo Sports Stadium in Woodend. For children aged 6-12 years. Over three sessions, children will learn hip hop, acrobatic and acting skills in a fun and engaging environment with a qualified professional. To enrol, email studio2tinytackers@mrsc.vic.gov.au.

  • Hanging Rock exhibition and art competition – View the ‘Impacts of single-use plastics’ exhibition at the Hanging Rock Discovery Centre and see the winning entries from the Hanging Rock Single-use Plastics Art Competition.

  • Stitch in Time exhibition, Kyneton Museum – A fascinating exhibition showcasing a variety of folk art and craft materials, created and used by the people of the Macedon Ranges over the years. Open 11am-4pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entry fee applies. 

  • Australia Day at the Outdoor Pools – Free entry at both the Lancefield Memorial and Woodend Swimming Pool. Slap some sunscreen and zinc on the family and spend the day relaxing by the water. BBQ available for personal use. 12-6pm.

  • Goldfields Libraries program – Visit the website to find activities planned for all ages during the school holidays at our local libraries.

Youth Activities (ages 12-25 years – supervised, drug/alcohol free events):

  • Woodend Pool Party Tuesday 16 January, 12-3pm. Dive into the splash-tastic fun at the Woodend Swimming Pool, featuring music and sausage sizzle. Standard entry fees apply.

  • Outdoor Cinema – Wednesday 18 January, 6pm, Old Kyneton Primary School (basketball court). Join us for a free outdoor cinema event featuring ‘Barbie. The Movie’, and a sausage sizzle and popcorn to satisfy your cravings. Bring your outdoor chair, and let's make it a movie night to remember!

  • Gisborne Skate Event – Saturday 20 January, 11am-4pm, Gisborne Skatepark. Join the Gisborne Skate, BMX and Scoot comp! Entry is free and you can register to compete on the day. Come along ready to show off your talent and enjoy some free food and live music.

  • Open Mic Event – Monday 22 January, 3-6pm, Romsey Ecotherapy Park. Come along and share your musical or comedic talents or just soak up the fun at our Open Mic Event. To perform please email youth@mrsc.vic.gov.au.

  • Lancefield Pool Party ─ Wednesday 24 January, 12-3pm. Time to cool off with some summer fun at the Lancefield Memorial Swimming Pool, featuring music and sausage sizzle. Standard entry fees apply.
