Feature local talent at your next event

Macedon Ranges Community Halls website

A dedicated new online directory of local bands and musicians has been launched, making it easier for event organisers to search for local talent to complement their events.

Supported by Council, the directory is accessible on the Macedon Ranges Community Halls website alongside information about the various community halls and facilities available for hire around the shire.

More than 20 local bands or singer/songwriters have already signed up to feature in the directory, covering a range of genres and offering something for every taste. Bands or artists can be contacted directly from the page, making the process of enquiring and booking easier for organisers.

Council’s Director Community Maria Weiss said the initiative had been inspired by Council’s Arts and Culture team, which identified the opportunity late last year following a significant response by local artists to perform at a Council event.

“We have an abundance of extremely talented musicians in our shire and this is another way that we give them a platform to be seen and heard,” she said.

“Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive from both artists and the hall committees themselves – it’s a convenient yet simple initiative that we hope will lead to an economic boost for our music industry/artists that have done it tough during the pandemic.”
