Hanging Rock – a living landscape for the Lost Trades Fair
Last updated on 26 June 2025
Hanging Rock’s reputation as a legendary destination for unforgettable events will be further enhanced with the Lost Trades Fair returning to where it all began, the Macedon Ranges, in 2026.
One of the most unique events in the country, the Lost Trades Fair celebrates craftsmanship, skilled manual work, decorative arts, heritage crafts, rare trades, and generational knowledge. Next year the tools, traditions, techniques, and trades secrets will all be on show against a backdrop only the Hanging Rock Reserve can provide.
Founders of the Lost Trades Fair Lisa and Glen Rundell are thrilled to be bringing the event back to the region where it all started back in 2014.
"Hanging Rock is one of the most iconic sites in the state and it is very exciting to be able to bring our artisans - the rock stars of traditional and heritage trades - together at such an inspirational site to share their skills, trades, talent, stories, culture, knowledge and celebrate the finest levels of human craftsmanship”, Lisa said.
“We look forward to moving Lost Trades to this magical location and deliver an unmatched experience to the thousands of visitors from across Australia and around the world that attend each year,” she said.
Council’s Mayor Dom Bonanno is excited by the return of the popular event to the Macedon Ranges.
“Hanging Rock has a reputation as a location that has the power and magic to elevate events, and the return of the Lost Trades Fair is a perfect fit to inspire and captivate attendees and participants alike. Whether you are an avid fan or a first timer, this is one event you won’t want to miss,” he said.
“The Lost Trades Fair also gives our local accommodation and hospitality businesses a real boost and an opportunity to showcase their wares with the event projected to bring more than $3 million to the local economy”.
Further details including dates will be finalised soon.
