What's it all about?

Children in Prep to Grade 6 are invited to join Penelope for a joyful, under-the-sea inspired creative workshop.

Participants will create and model their own miniature aquarium jar - home to a tiny pet starfish. Drawing inspiration from coral and sea-life imagery, children will explore simple sculpting techniques, building and mark-making to create their 3D forms.

To finish, glass pebbles and small novelty treasures will be added to complete their imaginary aquatic oasis for their new sea friend.

This hands-on session is a wonderful opportunity to explore new materials, build creative confidence, and enjoy a playful morning of making.

Who will be leading the session?

Local artist/educator Penelope Cato is eager to share her experience and knowledge with budding young artists. Penelope has an abiding interest in nature, particularly plant life and a love for patterning and Japanese design.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Penelope has a background in design across disciplines and creates imaginative works with aesthetic appeal and subtle layers of meaning.

Her experience directing, inspiring and engaging primary students together with her passion for art make her an asset to our junior artistic community.
