Council is celebrating residents who go above and beyond in their recycling efforts with the launch of a new community campaign, ‘Everyday Heroes in the Macedon Ranges’.
This initiative, led by Council’s Resource Recovery team, aims to highlight the extraordinary everyday actions of individuals, families, and neighbourhoods contributing to a more sustainable shire.
Replacing the long-standing “Let’s Get Sorted” branding, the new campaign acknowledges the growing commitment of residents to further improve recycling practices and responsible waste management. For the past 5 years, locals have embraced the four-bin system - separating general waste, recycling, glass, and organics - to reduce landfill and improve resource recovery.
Mayor Dom Bonanno said: “Our community is full of everyday heroes - people who go the extra mile to reduce waste, prevent contamination in recycling, and maintain a litter-free environment.
"This campaign is about celebrating those efforts and inspiring even more residents to become champions of sustainability.”
As part of the campaign, Council is inviting residents to share their recycling success stories or to nominate a community hero. Whether it’s a zero-waste household, a street where neighbours collaborate on bin night, or a local who educates others about correct recycling habits, all are encouraged to take part.
Stories, photos, and tips will be featured on Council’s communication channels, showcasing the positive impact individuals can make.
