State Government Accountability

Council has responsibility and influence over a range of matters that relate to Council services, Council-managed land, or Council-managed assets. We also have a strong history of collaboration with key external bodies such as the Victorian Government. However government decisions - or a lack of decision - can also at times conflict with the interests of Council and our community.

This initiative focuses on clear and firm advocacy of matters outside of our control, and more specifically, matters which the Victorian Government can control.

Council's current State Government Accountability advocacy list includes:

• Progress of Lancefield Park Recreation Reserve Master Plan (see Progressing Key Master Plans)
• Progress of intersection upgrade at Urquhart and High streets, Woodend
• Review of the Planning Amendment (Better Decisions Made Faster) Bill 2025
• Implementation of the Statement of Planning Policy
• Delivery of $30 million investment guarantee for social and affordable housing in the Macedon Ranges
• Review of the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESFV) Levy
• Progress of the Old Kyneton Primary School (OKPS) site
