Gisborne - Sewer upgrade works
Greater Western Water has advised that it is upgrading the Gisborne sewer pump station by increasing the storage capacity of the site, by constructing a new high-capacity storage tank.
The new tank will:
- protect the environment by reducing the risk of overflows
- double the station’s capacity to support Gisborne's growing population
- improve the pump station's performance and efficiency.
From April 2025, crews will be mobilising to site at Rotary Park in Gisborne, opposite the bowling club.
Works will be between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Any works outside of those hours will notify impacted residents. Works are expected to be completed April 2026.
The works will include:
- Set up site by erecting fencing, designating a location for equipment and vehicle storage
- Mobilise site sheds
- Installing steel piles
- Bulk earthworks
- Installation of ground anchors
- Concrete construction activities
