Walking and Cycling Strategy

Council's Walking and Cycling Strategy focuses on improving access to shared trails, routes designed for both walking and cycling, to encourage active and healthy lifestyles across the shire.

The strategy was developed through extensive consultation with key stakeholders, including walking and cycling groups, a Community Reference Group, Council officers and feedback from the broader community.

One key achievement has been the staged upgrades of the Campaspe River trail, transforming it into a shared-use path for walkers and cyclists. Council has also endorsed two shared trail feasibility studies, both identified as priority actions within the strategy.

The implementation plan is reviewed annually as part of Council's budget process, with actions implemented progressively as funding and resources allow.
