Woodend, Speed Reduction - Safer Local Roads and Streets Program

Council is delivering speed limit reductions within the Woodend town centre to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

The project will introduce new speed limits on selected local roads and install updated speed signage throughout the township to support a safer and more consistent road environment.

Lower vehicle speeds help reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes, improve driver reaction times and create safer conditions for people walking and riding through the town centre.

The speed reductions support Council's commitment to improving road safety and creating more connected, accessible and liveable communities.

These works are funded through the Victorian Government's Safer Local Roads and Streets Program (SLRSP).

The works have been awarded and installation of the new speed signage is expected to commence shortly, with completion anticipated by the end of October.

Minor delays may occur during the works. Please follow all traffic management directions and allow extra travel time when travelling through the area.
