New Gisborne, Hamilton Road - Road Reconstruction Works

Council is delivering road reconstruction and intersection upgrade works on Hamilton Road, New Gisborne, from approximately 140 metres east of Hastings Drive to the Pierce Road/Govans Lane intersection.

 

As part of the project, approximately 1,160 metres of Hamilton Road will be reconstructed to a rural road standard, including a 6.6-metre-wide sealed carriageway and 0.5-metre sealed shoulders on both sides of the road.

 

The project will also include upgrades to the Pierce Road and Hamilton Road intersection, including asphalt surfacing, new kerb and channel, drainage realignment and improvements, upgrades to existing crossover pipe culverts, and improved street lighting.

 

These upgrades will improve road condition, drainage performance, intersection operation and visibility, while enhancing safety for all road users.

 

The works are funded through Council's Capital Works Program 2026/27.

 

The works have been awarded and construction dates will be published once the contractor's program has been finalised.

 

Minor delays are expected during the works. Please allow extra time if travelling in the area.
