Council is delivering road safety improvements at the intersection of Smith Street and Victoria Street, Macedon, to improve safety for all road users.
As part of the project, a raised pedestrian crossing (wombat crossing) will be installed on the southern approach to the Smith Street and Victoria Street intersection, together with associated drainage works.
The project will also include new line marking in the vicinity of the crossing and footpath upgrades on the north-eastern side of Smith Street.
These town centre improvements will provide a safer crossing point for pedestrians, enhance visibility for both pedestrians and motorists, and help reduce the risk of crashes.
The raised pedestrian crossing, associated drainage works and line marking are funded through the Victorian Government's Safer Local Roads and Streets Program (SLRSP). The footpath upgrades are funded through Council's Capitall Works Program 2026/27.
The project is currently in the design phase. Construction dates will be published once the works contract has been awarded.
Minor traffic delays are expected during construction. Please allow extra travel time when travelling through the area.
