This afternoon, I informed the CEO of my resignation as Mayor of Macedon Ranges Shire Council, effective close of business on Friday 24th July, allowing for a one-week transition.

After careful consideration, I have made the decision to step down to stand as a candidate for the seat of Macedon in the upcoming Victorian State Election.

Serving as Mayor has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together over the past eight months, working alongside my fellow councillors, Council staff and our wonderful community.

I have strived to be a visible, approachable, and hardworking leader during my term. I will continue to serve as a councillor.

This decision has not been made lightly; however, I believe it’s the right time to explore this opportunity.

Over the coming week, I will work closely with the CEO, Deputy Mayor, my fellow councillors and Council staff to ensure a smooth transition of mayoral responsibilities.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me during my time as Mayor. It has been a privilege to serve the Macedon Ranges community.
