Bin there, done that: new waste app has you covered

Residents across Macedon Ranges can now keep track of bin days and recycling information in one place with Council’s new waste app.
The MRSC waste app has moved to the free LoopedIn Councils app, offering an improved, user-friendly layout and useful new features. After downloading LoopedIn Councils and selecting Macedon Ranges Shire Council, residents can view a personalised bin collection calendar and set reminders, so they know which bin to put out and when.
The app also features an A–Z guide showing where different items belong, recycling advice and information about Council’s waste services and facilities.
Mayor Cr Cassy Borthwick, said the app was designed to make managing household waste simpler.
“We know bin collections and recycling can sometimes be confusing, so it’s great to give residents clear, practical information right at their fingertips,” Cr Borthwick said.
“Whether you need a reminder about bin night, want to check where an unusual item belongs or need directions to a transfer station, the app can help. It might even settle a few household debates about whose turn it is to take the bins out.”
Residents can also receive notifications about collection changes, events and programs, and access their annual free green waste drop-off vouchers digitally.
“The digital green waste vouchers are an especially welcome addition. Each property receives its own barcode, making them simple and convenient for homeowners and renters to use,” Cr Borthwick said.
“The app will also help residents find ways to reuse, donate or hire items, supporting our efforts to reduce waste and strengthen the circular economy.”
Residents with Council’s previous waste app should delete it from their device. Search ‘LoopedIn Councils’ on the Apple App Store or Google Play to download the free app.
