One in four Australians aged 65 and over lives alone, with this ratio expected to continue to 2036, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Australia’s Report in 2017.
The Australian Government’s Seniors Connected Program has funded the implementation of a Village Hub (Village Connect Project) in the Macedon Ranges.
The Village Hub’s funding has enabled Council to employ a dedicated Village Connect Project Officer.
The Village Connect Project is an exciting opportunity to promote, support and guide active ageing in our beautiful shire. It will also be a linkage point to the broader scope of existing community and social supports that already provide opportunities for individuals to connect within the nine villages of the shire.
This project is funded until June 2024. Over this time we will deliver a range of programs, activities and events for people aged 55 years and over. These initiatives have been shaped by over 140 survey responses(PDF, 1MB) received from the community during consultations held from January to March 2022.
