The Community Register helps older people who are isolated or frail and people living with a disability to feel safer at home.
As part of this free service, you can receive a weekly or fortnightly telephone call, or you may simply choose to have your details entered on the secure database and to receive your member identification card. Carrying this card with you at all times enables emergency services to get valuable information should it ever become necessary.
You can either complete the application form that can be downloaded from the link below or obtain the form from your nearest police station, Council office, medical clinic or health service.
Return it in a sealed envelope marked ‘Community Register’ either to one of our customer service centres or your local police station.
If you care for someone who gets confused or is unable to explain to others who they are or where they live, we recommend that you complete the extra information form (available in Word(DOCX, 467KB) and PDF(PDF, 192KB)).
You will receive a Macedon Ranges Community Register Identification Card. You should carry this with you whenever you are away from home. Your card enables emergency services to access, through the police, your details. The information you have given is only used by Police and Emergency Services.
As a member, you will receive information such as coping with extremes of weather and preparing for emergencies.
We strongly recommend that you install a key safe to enable access by emergency services if necessary, and that you provide each of your emergency contacts with a key to your home. This reduces the likelihood that police will need to gain forced entry to your home in the case of an emergency.
The Community Register is a joint project of Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Victoria Police.
