Economic Development Strategy 2021-2031

The Economic Development Strategy 2021-2031(PDF, 10MB) was adopted at the 27 October 2021 Council meeting.

This document provides a vision for economic development, job creation, education and training and COVID-19 recovery in the Macedon Ranges for the next ten years.

Preparing the strategy

Work on the development of the draft Economic Development Strategy recommenced in February 2020 with the intention of providing the opportunity for face-to-face community engagement sessions.

As COVID-19 restrictions began to take effect early in 2020, these sessions were conducted online. However, due to the economic pressures and stress on many business owners at the time, it wasn’t possible to engage with enough people to complete adequate engagement.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing, community engagement to inform the strategy was able to be completed in March 2021.

After feedback from the community engagement, a draft strategy was developed and approved by Council for a six-week period of public consultation between 28 June and 9 August.

The final version of the strategy was taken to the 27 October Council meeting for adoption.

Thank you to everyone who provided input along the way during a difficult period for business. Your input was invaluable and vital to finalising this important, ten year strategy.

Implementation of the strategy

Now that the strategy, including the five year implementation plan that sets out the strategic priorities has been adopted, work will begin on implementing the actions identified in the document.

Council will work in partnership with the business community and other key stakeholders, to achieve the vision and strategic economic objectives that are the cornerstones of the strategy.

We look forward to working with the community on delivering these actions.
