Gisborne and Kyneton Heritage Study 2017

The Gisborne and Kyneton Heritage Study(PDF, 8MB) was completed in 2017.

The study area focused on the towns of Gisborne, New Gisborne and Kyneton and meets an action identified in the Macedon Ranges Heritage Strategy to review previous heritage work and identify gaps. The study reviewed 44 places previously identified in the older works, the Shire of Kyneton Conservation (Heritage) Study 1990 and the Macedon Ranges Cultural Heritage and Landscape Study 1994.

Each of the 44 places was assessed and 33 heritage sites plus a series of four railway bridges were documented for their cultural and historic significance. The Gisborne and Kyneton Heritage Study continued on the work recommended in the earlier 1994 study, ensuring the significance of these places was documented and then protected for future generations.

The study was adopted by Council on 20 December 2017 and progressed through Amendment C118macr in 2018. These Heritage Overlays became part of the Macedon Ranges Planning Scheme when Amendment C118macr was gazetted on 20 September 2019. This ensures that these heritage places are protected for present and future generations of the Macedon Ranges community and all Victorians.
