The Macedon Ranges is renowned for its tree-lined streets and avenues which form an integral part of our shire’s appeal.
This year Council planted 280 street trees, 238 juvenile trees in the township of Riddells Creek under the street tree planting program, and also included 42 juvenile trees through requests from residents throughout other townships. The stakes used in the planting program were up-cycled from the trees felled by the June 2021 storm.
All street trees planted by Council are placed on an extensive two year maintenance program to ensure they mature into healthy and structurally sound trees in the future. This includes watering of the trees over the summer months, and formative pruning to ensure the trees meet the requirement of the road management plan and the Township Street and Park Tree Management Policy.
