Gilbert Gordon Oval netball court

  • Project value$1,351,210
  • Project scheduleUnderway
  • Completion Date30 April 2025

Following a successful funding application to the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, Gilbert Gordon Oval is set to see two new netball courts developed at the reserve. The new courts will replace the existing deteriorating netball court and will be constructed adjacent to the social room building, making them more visible and accessible from existing reserve facilities.

Location of the new netball courts has been confirmed with Council adopting the Gilbert Gordon Oval Master Plan on 22 March 2023.

Project delivery planning work has commenced, with Council officers working in partnership with traditional owners to develop a Cultural Heritage Management Plan for the development area of the new netball courts.

The new courts will be constructed to meet current competition standards and will reuse the existing court lighting infrastructure that was installed in 2016.

As part of Council’s funding contribution, this project includes removal of the old cricket practice nets at Gilbert Gordon Oval, and the former netball court (once the new courts are complete).

This project has been made possible through funding from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, an allocation from Council’s 2021/22 budget, and a contribution from the Woodend Hesket Football Netball Club.

Anticipated completion date is April 2025.
