Three acres of land located in the Gisborne Fields Estate on the corner of Tovey Drive, Coop Drive and Rothschild Road in Gisborne will be developed into a park for the local community.
$100,000 was allocated in Council’s 2017/18 Budget to begin development of the park, including an extensive community consultation process and development of a landscape plan.
The Landscape Plan
The landscape plan(PDF, 1MB) will guide the development of the park over time, with future stages being dependent on a range of funding sources.
It outlines the proposed development over eight stages, with scope for the stages to be implemented in smaller segments. This will assist residents to work with local community groups and apply for grants to fund smaller facilities such as drinking taps, additional playground equipment, shelters/seats etc.
Stage one works
Works on the first stage of the park include the installation of a play space and connecting pathways, are almost complete.
Stage two works
Council’s 2019/2020 Budget has allocated $60,000 in funds to extend the shared path circuit at the park. Works on these paths are expected to commence in early 2020.
