During October/November 2022, severe weather caused widespread damage throughout the shire, with roads particularly affected. Council has been working to keep communities safe, informed and to reopen vital infrastructure as soon as possible.

Here you can find information about flood affected roads, venues and supports available.

Dr Gordon is an expert in mental health, first aid and supporting people affected by disasters, working for many years with the Victorian Government and Victorian communities impacted by emergencies to provide psychological support.

Flood Recovery Hotline and support contacts

The Flood Recovery Hotline is a single state-wide number, 1800 560 760, that Victorians impacted by the recent floods can call for help or assistance with:

  • navigating available supports
  • mental health and wellbeing support.

The recovery hotline is open from 7.30am-7.30pm everyday.

Financial assistance

In addition to the support information listed below, please check the Victorian Government's 2022 Flood Recovery web page for the latest financial support information.

Rates deferment application

Council will assist residents whose property has been directly affected by the 2022 floods by providing, on application, a deferment for the payment of the first and /or second rates instalment.

At this stage deferment will be accepted for this current instalment until the next instalment is due on 28 February 2023. At that time either both instalments should be paid or an application under Council's Financial Hardship Policy made.

Insurance

If you have property or contents insurance, you should contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the event. 

  • Ask your insurer for advice on actions you should take.
  • Do not discard or throw away damaged items without first consulting your insurance company. 
  • Make a list of items that have been damaged and take photographs if possible. 
  • Keep receipts for any emergency repair work.
  • If you have suffered some loss and have property or contents insurance, you should contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the event.
