Feedback sought to develop an Economic Development Strategy

Macedon Ranges Shire Council is developing a draft Economic Development Strategy with a vision for economic development, job creation, education & training and COVID-19 recovery in the Macedon Ranges.

This process will build on work to date and your input is vital to inform the outcome.

This community engagement will help to identify the challenges and opportunities for our business community and those seeking education and training, and canvas activities to create sustainable competitive advantages. It will also identify barriers, competition and emerging technologies that can be addressed to strengthen these advantages.

The many opportunities to provide feedback include a series of drop-in sessions and facilitated workshops planned to be held in Romsey 16 March, Kyneton 18 March and Gisborne 23 March.

Discussions

Work on the development of the draft Economic Development Strategy recommenced in February 2020 with the intention of providing the opportunity for face-to-face community engagement sessions.

As COVID-19 restrictions began to take effect early in 2020, these sessions were conducted online.  However, due to the economic pressures and stress on many business owners at the time, it wasn’t possible to engage with enough people to complete adequate engagement.

As a result, the decision was made to pause the community engagement process until restrictions were lifted sufficiently to allow face-to-face consultation to recommence. Community engagement to inform the Strategy can now get underway again.

If you own a business, live or work in the Macedon Ranges we want to hear from you. To make sure we understand what the community is looking for in an economic development strategy, we invite you to have your say from 26 February to 26 March.
