Which areas have been identified for potential housing development?

Last updated on 27 July 2020

Urban growth areas have been determined through a land supply and demand analysis. This analysis estimated an existing theoretical supply of over 2600 lots In Gisborne.

Based on a demand rate of 130 lots required per year – a total of 3900 lots over 30 years.

Expanding township boundaries would enable access to additional land supply for the extra dwellings required to accommodate predicted population growth.

Opportunities for future development are potentially available at:

  • New Gisborne, north of railway line
  • New Gisborne, east of Business Park
  • New Gisborne (West of Station Road)
  • Gisborne West (Barro land)
  • Gisborne East (Glen Junor)
