Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society

The Society is an incorporated body, and an entirely voluntary and non-profit organisation.

Members of the Society are a diverse group of enthusiasts, interested in vintage machinery, restoring and displaying historic oil and steam equipment, engines, farm machinery, tractors, cars and trucks, railways large and small, models, history of engineering and technology.

One group are working on restoring old shearing equipment, another on getting the Portable traction engine working again, while yet another is involved in setting up the Miniature and Model railways for the amusement of young families.  There is also a Radio and Electronics Group.  The aim is to improve men’s health by providing a range of activities for men who are interested in working on projects rather than sport.  Once a year in May the Society puts on a big Steam Rally with a Vintage Tractor Pull and all the restored Big Steam engines like the Steam Roller and Cane Locomotive working in full steam.
