Do I need a permit?
Planning Permits vs. Building Permits
It is important that you don’t confuse planning permits with building permits.
Planning Permits give you permission to build, develop or use your property for a particular purpose.
Building Permits give you permission to build a type of structure.
In some cases you may need a building permit and a planning permit. In other cases you may only need a planning permit and not a building permit.
