Activities for children
Playgroups provide parents and caregivers with the opportunity to meet new people, gain support and exchange parenting ideas. They allow babies, toddlers and preschoolers to socialise as they play and learn together. All playgroups are different but the emphasis is on fun and friendship. For more information, see: Playgroup Victoria
Join or start a playgroup
The Playgroup Victoria website lists playgroups in your area, see: Find a playgroup or visit our Community Directory. If you are interested in starting a playgroup, all you need is a couple of friends and a place to meet. See: Start a playgroup
Toy Libraries are a non-profit organisation run by volunteer members, providing a cost effective way for parents to access a large number of fun and educational toys and play material. Toys available for loan cater for children from birth to eight years. Play is how children learn and making it fun is nature's way of ensuring children get lots and lots of practice. Children's play has been closely studied by child psychologists who have catalogued the pattern of development of skills and abilities from birth. All toy libraries promote the importance and value of play.
