A new Hanging Rock advisory committee has been appointed by Council to advise and assist on a new strategic direction for the iconic Hanging Rock precinct.

Improvements for the environment, visitors and events

Council is working with the Victorian and Australian governments on a range of environmental and visitor improvements at Hanging Rock.

Things to do and see

There's lots to see and do at the Rock, such as walks and tours, a cafe/gift shop and picnic areas, a playground, ovals, tennis courts and a racecourse.

Environmental initiatives

Work is underway on several environmental initiatives that focus on conserving and enhancing Hanging Rock Reserve and the East Paddock.

Opening hours and fees

Hanging Rock is open all year round, except Christmas Day. Entry fees apply.

Hanging Rock Master Plan

Preparation of a new master plan for the Hanging Rock precinct is now underway.

Getting there

Hanging Rock is located 1 hour north of Melbourne, right off the Calder Freeway at Woodend.
