Our region has a rich cultural history which began with our traditional owners and continues through the work of the Kyneton Museum and historical societies.

Kyneton Museum

Historic building and display in Piper Street portraying life during the Victorian gold rush. Temporary exhibitions presenting local stories and places.

Heritage buildings and towns

The towns of the Macedon Ranges feature significant historic buildings and streetscapes. Council plays a role protecting and enhancing these features.

Aboriginal cultural heritage

We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land and work with local Registered Aboriginal Parties to improve understanding of indigenous cultural heritage.

There are five historical societies in the Macedon Ranges. All societies are represented on the Macedon Ranges Heritage Council.
